How Long?

How long are we to wait, Lord?

How long are we to wait?

How long are we to wait to see your face?

How long until we're cleansed in unconditional grace?

How long are we to wait before we help the sick and poor?

How long will our hearts long for you to knock upon the door?

How long are we to wait to clearly hear your voice?

To truly understand your purpose, love, and choice?

Your choice to give us our free will, a chance to take a stand

To truly have an honest choice to freely take your hand

We cannot comprehend a father's pain

To sacrifice his son for us so we would only gain?

When will we be willing to try to make a change?

Our most important life priorities that should be rearranged

To place the highest King at the top of the list

For every precious child who turns away is missed

For each and every sinful lamb that goes astray

How long are we to wait, Lord, until you turn away?

How long are we to live with hate, the shame of all our sin?

For all those who accept your gift are those who truly win

We still abuse your sacrifice of dying on a tree

How long until we realize that our freedom wasn't free?
