How to Love

The thing about loving someone

About falling for someone

is what if they don’t love you back?

What if they get tired of your presence?

Get what they want and throw you away

Relationships are so different now than they should be

People know how to say the right things to make you believe you are all they want

You build up all these feelings for them just to be hurt

Like a wildfire

Your love grows for them

But before you know it

You’re out of their life

And just like you fell for them suddenly,

you lose them all at once

Loving someone is so different than it used to be

Than it should be.

Its so complicated.

You spend so much time worrying that you’ll never be good enough

That they’ll find someone better.

It’s too often that you can become someone’s ex

Just because you don’t show them you care enough to send the first text

I know that I’m young but I thought this would be easier

It’s hard to see how someone could find anyone to be with

There’s too many high expectations

So many do’s and don’ts

I don’t think that you should cut off your friends or hobbies to give all your attention to one person

You shouldn’t have to act a certain way just to please someone else

You should only worry about being yourself

and making yourself and the one you love happy

You should never have to change anything about yourself for someone else

That’s not what love is about.
