how many?

One job that may change my life

Is the one I never knew I wanted.

Honestly, how can you ask

What I want to be,

When the world is a cruel reality?

I learned the long way around

That every precious tune

Is not a melodic sound

And every step you take

Is not always homeward bound.

When you venture out in the world, we live

You really understand what courage is.

I have 3 homes of family and endless friends,

But when I need a helping hand

There is not one single hand to lend.

So when you ask for

“A job to change your life”

Can I simply answer living

Carries its own rewards and strife?

But then I think,

That is what I want.

To write and tell the tale

Of courage in life

To those who think they’ve failed

Some say an author

They give the pen to write

Some say a counselor

To help you through a fight

Then again when I think it through

There is only one person fit to help you.

You see them in the mirror

And they look back at you

And you may know the answers

But you don’t know what to do.

So I think what has been presented to me

Is a simple, cliché yet difficult opportunity

To abandon a life I did once walk

For the same thing with professional talk

Amongst students who look up at me

And expect answers that are clear to see

And when I toss them muddy water to drink

I guess my dream job would be to wonder

Just exactly how many do I make think?
