how much I could have loved you
you didn’t stay to see
the serenity of my being as soon as I get into the sea
the spark in my eye when we would go outside to watch the sunset
or how I’d play with your hair in a crowd of people
being your perfect partner in the middle of a party
and how I’d make sure your energy is connected to mine
you didn’t stay to see how deep I get into my words
and how I’m the most vivid person in a concert of my favourite artist
that by the way, will be much more meaningful now singing to those lyrics that apply to you
that will only be a distant memory
and a desire of what was not
of the love poems that will never be sent
of your little universe of weird things that I’ll never get in
of the cheap dinners in Rotterdam that will never be made
even though I see your face at every table for two
you didn’t stay to see how much I'm capable to love
