How Often?
How often do we miss the little things?
The pink sunrise in the morning,
The birds chirping in the stillness,
The smell of new-cut grass,
How often do we miss the little things?
How our children, once little, grow so big-so fast,
One day our babies, the next, grown adults,
How often do we miss the little things?
The person who opens the door for us,
The person who cheerfully says, “Good day!”
Do we say thank you?
Do we even notice?
How often do we miss the little things?
How often, when stressed, do we snap at those we love?
How often are we too preoccupied to see that our children just want a hug?
How often do we miss the little things?
The family gathering for dinner,
How many others have no family?
How often do we miss the little things?
How often do we miss the special things in life?
How often do we ignore the special, yet so normal, things every day?
How often do we miss the little things?
How often do we close our eyes and minds to the important things around us?
We must open them and enjoy every day,
How often do we miss the little things in life?
