how peculiar

how peculiar it is
to barely know you
and yet still physically feel
your bits of light, your bits of dark
shifting my gut lower
to allow abundant space
in my chest for your
unintentionally planted seed
to sprout
and to bloom

how peculiar it is
to barely know you
and yet still yearn to position my ear
against your chest once more
and then slowly close my eyes to
imagine delving into
the delicate beauty your
mind is comprised of

how peculiar it is
to barely know you
and yet I am willing
to peel myself apart
and allow you to explore
the depths of my very being
without giving it a second thought
if only you were to express
the slightest inquisitiveness
to see those depths

I hope that someday
you do

how peculiar it is
indeed
