How Is The Pen Mightier Than The Sword?

He laughs,

How is the pen mightier than the sword?

A sword stabs and wounds

While a pen merely scribbles

“Words can never hurt me!”

He screams

As he wipes away the words scribbled

On his door

Reading “Go back to where you came from”

He weeps

He weeps

“Words can’t break me!”

He screams

As he reads a letter from the military

Stating his girlfriend

Is dead

Reading “Our deepest condolences”

He weeps

He weeps

“Words are nothing!”

He screams

As he hears his brother

Tell him once more

“I can stop if I want”

He weeps

He weeps

“Words are beautiful”

He whispers

As he watches

His wife moving her hands,

To sign --

“I do”

He weeps

He weeps

“Words are powerful”

He cries

As he reads

“Daddy, I love you”

He weeps

He weeps

“Words can stab”

He confesses

As he reads his son’s computer screen

“Just go kill yourself”

He weeps

He weeps
