How poetry has helped me

Poetry has taught me much

At times it has been my crutch

It’s helped me open my eyes

And at times has given me a disguise

Poetry has given me an appreciation for life

And has aided me through my strife

I cut ties

While writing about guys

I cried over toxic friends

But poetry helped focused my lens

At times it has been the art of writing

That kept me fighting
