How she grew up to be me
She was just a little girl,
she had many ambitions,
she had many dreams,
but then she grew up to be me,
she listened to the things people told her,
let them under her skin,
she cried out,
"How could you do this to me?"
but I did not let her down,
because I am strong,
i will not be another statistic,
another pregnant teen,
another drug addict,
i won't be them,
my parents,
my friends,
i'll be groundbreaking,
a scientist,
an engineer,
a strong female,
and i,
will look at the statistics,
and cry,
because I believe many things,
i believe that all people are naturally good,
i believe that everyone has a purpose,
a dream,
a goal,
something to achieve,
but not all have the will to try,
so we cry,
all the dreams that once existed,
Are now all a lie...
and that little girl,
she was lucky,
she grew up to be a rebel,
who still has big,
groundbreaking dreams,
of achieveing,
because she,
grew up,
to be me.
