How to stay alive

Words are spread across the page

A blurring sight overwhelms my eyes

It seems too much to even gage

Most things I read are slanderous lies.

The only truths that seem to be

Are ones I find to be short

And ones that rhyme in scheme

They are so beautiful it’s a crime that should be brought to court.

Poetry speaks quick and true

Right deep down to the heart and soul

And sometimes I cry right on cue

My heart is willing to take a toll.

Fahrenheit 451 is a my true nightmare

A world without poetry can never survive

That thought I cannot even bare

Cause, damn, poetry makes me feel so alive.
