How To Survive

I'm here for one reason
and that is to succeed
Not trying to be a bum
or hustling for greed
Trying to do better than what people think
they see my height and my skin color
and automatically speak
"Oh why don't you play basketball?"
it's such a crushing speech
why cant I be the next einstein?
or even better, make a name for me

Trying to study but i can't focus
Living in a broken home because my parents split
the anxiety isnt bogus though it leaves me in a daze

all i can think about is 10 and 20 years from today

my friends dont get it
no one understands me
and that's okay
because i understand me
i understand that missing out on the game
will hurt me today, but in tomorrow's morning
i'll be working on my journey
to surivive.
