How things used to be
I was so young, so innocent
didn’t know any better
Still learning the ways of life
Everything was still a game
Everything was easy and simple
No worries, just to live life
to its full potential
Dreams were just
Endless opportunities of
walking on the moon
Or singing in a big auditorium
where all the seats are filled
Back then, I wore
a t-shirt and
baggy jeans, with
shoes that weren’t in style
But I didn’t care
as long as I was happy.
But now it’s different.
Things changed
All of sudden, I’m tired.
I learned that there are things to do,
besides watching the latest shows
or playing games.
It was time to prepare for the world.
The big, scary world
New people, new Presidents,
new experiences.
Quite frankly, I wasn’t too
fond of it all.
As I got older I noticed the
Things in the world got older too
the house, the neighborhood, and the
people around me
The world around me became
More gray
Society had changed
I had changed
I had my share of stains,
I was no longer this clean white shirt
I was this kid with ketchup stains
and dirt stains from playing outside
Soon enough, I learned that
mistakes are only short lived
It’s now what can I do to fix what I did
Once upon a time it seemed the world,
defined fun as playing
bored games and climbing trees.
But now we have
hand held devices that distract us
from the rest of the world.
Oh and the people they changed.
Little Johnny used to be
the most humble person, now he
thinks he is the best thing since
sliced cheese.
The girl that I was back then,
Isn’t the girl I am now.
Then, I was full of life,
young and fresh
Now, life has changed,
my perspective changed,
I changed.
Oh how I wish things
would turn back to
the way it used to be
