How to Write a Villanelle

This poem right here is a villanelle

And though it’s most likely a giant flop

I’d like to believe that it’s kind of swell

Just how I’m writing this I now will tell

You frequent the lines on bottom and top

This poem right here is a villanelle

You only get two rhymes so choose them well

And use iambic so words don't gallop

I’d like to believe that it’s kind of swell

The sentence placement you sure can foretell

Just watch were my repeated lyrics drop

This poem right here is a villanelle

For rhyming scheme, too, you can use this shell

Aba-aba-aba-aba-aba-aba-a you can stop

I’d like to believe that it’s kind of swell

This poetry form might not ring a bell

But this is not the only of its crop

I’d like to believe that it’s kind of swell

This poem right here is a villanelle

I love writing, and not just poetry. I write essays, short stories, and news articles as well. You can find me on FictionPress with the same username. As a Christian, I've really appreciated the faith I see in other poets here. I also really appreciate the "fate" button.
