How You Left And How He Fixed Me
Hey you,
Do you see?
You proudly stood there and crushed my toes
It started there and it didn’t stop
It went from my toes to my feet
To my shins to my knees
To my hands to my forearms
You crushed them so hard that I saw stars
And finally, to put me out of my misery
You cut open my chest, ripped out my heart
Slowly and painfully, you broke it apart
Leaving me there to die, gasping for air
Waiting
And waiting
And waiting
And waiting
Waiting for someone to come
Pick up the parts
And put back together
My broken heart
Waiting for someone to give me splints for my shins
And casts for my hands
Waiting for someone to bring me back
Bring me back
Back from the dead
To hold me
And love me
And kiss me
And want me
This is how you left me
And this is how he fixed me
Slowly and surely
He put me together
And kept me alive
He never wanted to leave my side
These are the things you never did
Yet these are the things he always did
