Hubris

athena broke my heart.

uncomprehending at emotions,

she concluded it was wise

for her to test her theories.

she pushed me off the heavens

and made me feel like falling.

i hope you have gathered enough data

to realize that it never felt like an experiment.

this is my last love poem for you.

this is my last sacrifice for

a goddess who thinks

she's worthy of the stars

come back to earth,

your head is too far up

for angels to reach.
