Why can’t everyone just be human?

I’m not talking about the species,

I’m not talking about our appearance,

I’m not talking about being in control,

I’m talking about just being human.

I know you may seem confused,

Reflecting back on who you think you are,

Wondering what I’m talking about,

Well, I’ll tell you.

George Washington,

Thomas Jefferson,

John Jay,

Alexander Hamilton,

Benjamin Franklin,

John Adams,

James Madison.

These men are our founding fathers,

And they had a dream for our nation,

The question is, are we following it?

They envisioned America “The Land of the Free”,

They wanted PEOPLE to make the laws,

Not the government.

They wanted a government established for it would be able to

enforce the laws and protect the people.

Today is different compared to many years ago,

Our nation has developed tremendously from

curing/treating certain diseases to inventing the first iPhone.

I know what you’re wondering,

What does this have to do with being Human!?

Well, here it is…

Why do we let greed take over us?

Why does having control steer our actions?

Why does inconsideration take a huge role in how we make our decisions?

I’m sorry.

I just don’t understand why some people act the way they do.

Why are some people racist, sexist, and homophobic?

Why do some people let money get the best of them?

How can someone just kill another being and not feel any remorse?

How can some people continue to eat animals knowing that they died being stabbed, burned, and kicked to death?

How can we continue to live the way we do, without thinking twice about how our planet might be affected?

How can we ignore climate change and that certain animals will be going extinct?

I know I just poured so many questions onto you,

I just wanna know why people can’t  be human?

Who says that we have to use money as an exchange?

Why can’t a girl love a girl?

Why can’t some people think twice before throwing that cigarette butt on the ground?

Why can’t people just be nice to themselves and others?

Why can’t color just be a color and not determine our relationships

on the white to black spectrum?

I’ll tell you why..

Nature vs. Nurture.

The people and environment that we surround ourselves with or that happened to be apart in our lives,

shapes who we are and who we become.

It all starts with the ones in control,

The government,

The president,

The high beings that have a say when the ones at the bottom don’t.

For the most part, the way people behave and think is what our country shapes us to be.

In my eyes, our country has only served us halfway. They have not met our most important need.

Which is to express and define to us, what a human should be like.  

To be human, one must

Care for others

Stand for one another,

Not judge one another,

Not discriminate or prejudice,

Care for themselves,

Care for others,

Care for the environment,

Care for animals,

Work together,

And not let things take over what really matters,

Which is being the best that someone can be while improving everyone and everything around them.
