The Human Race

I know that it is cliche to say

That if I could change one thing

     I would end hate

I know it's an easy choice

        an obvious answer

But I would make it so that humans can't see

The things that make us all different

                                 We are the human race

                                 We are all the same

The God we worship, the gender we live as, the sexuality we are

The ethnicity we were born to

This doesn't change the simple fact

 That we are human

                   Everyone

 Some dogs have spots

Some dogs are black some are white, brown or red

 Some dogs have floppy ears

Some dogs have short tails, some dogs have long noses

 But they are all dogs

And we are all humans

You asked me what I would change

And I answered the obvious

But if I could change one thing

I would make it so we cannot see

Country lines, skin colors, sexuality, gender or creed

I would make it so that when we looked at each other

The only thing we could see was a Human Being

Just a person

like you or me

And if I could change one thing

I would make it so we could all live on the earth, under the great blue sky

Equals, and hate free

Forever sharing our love, and extending to all our other brothers and sisters

the right to human dignity

and equality
