Humanity

Grenades are flying

As children are crying

The skies turn blood red

The sound of gun fire up ahead

The ground covered with the living and the dead

A conflagration so fierce

As the bullets pierce

Life’s little persistence

In the distance

A city disappears from existence

With the ongoing resistance

Among the dying

One survivor’s sighing

At the earth that’s trying

To end the destruction

And begin the reconstruction

Of the insanity

Known as humanity
