Hurdles
You call my attention
And that’s when the race (we) started
A fast sprint of 300 meters begins
But then the first hurdle came
And you ignored me, like I was a ghost, oblivious.
The second hurdle came,
You asked for sex and I said NO!
That hurdle dropped to the floor and
Had me tumbling down my lane, trying to regain balance.
Third hurdle, and people step into our lane, interference, interrogations and immaturity.
Fourth hurdle, I listen to them and lose ALL my trust
Fifth hurdle I saw you kiss her, my knees buckled and I stumbled, spikes cutting my calves, you said forever, but the future doesn’t look promising.
Sixth hurdle, you caught me slipping, I brought out the green monster, and you punched me square in the jaw.
Seventh hurdle, the last day my best friend spoke to me “He plays you.” Fire burning in her eyes. Eighth hurdle, the last hurdle, you text me Monday saying “It’s Over.”
I never received first place as your queen, but now the hole in my heart will permanently remind me of you.
