The Hurdles
I'm running.
I jump.
I'm running.
I trip.
All these hurdles on the track of life.
Sometimes I think, how will I make it to the end?
To the end of this track of life.
All these hurdles in my way.
Mom's lost her job.
(JUMP)
I can't find enough money for school.
(JUMP)
How will I make it to the end?
I constantly ask myself this question as I continue to jump hurdle after hurdle.
On this track of life.
Breath gets heavy.
Sweat drips from my forehead.
Brother's gotten kicked out of school.
(JUMP)
Dad's nowhere to be found.
(JUMP)
Will I ever make it to the end?
The finish line looks so far.
I taste salt on my tongue.
It's a teardrop.
NO! STOP! Crying solves nothing!
I'm running.
I jump.
I'm running.
I'm running.
I'm running.
Things are calm...BAM!
Another hurdle in my path.
Will it ever end? Will I ever make it to the end? Does this track of life even have a finish line?
I will continue to run and I will continue to jump until I find out.
Because I was not raised to be a quitter.
These hurdles, I will overcome.
