Hurt

I learned

Through that one little poem.

“It doesn’t mean anything,” she said.

I learned

What it meant.

No one could write

Such strong words

Without enduring the pain she wrote of.

“I promise, it’s nothing.”

It wasn’t nothing.

Ever since reading

That one little poem,

I saw the pain in her eyes.
