From Hurt to Healing

I came to him broken and scarred

from a “love” that was fleeting, and fake, and flawed.

I had convinced myself that I wasn’t enough

and that I wasn’t worth loving or caring about.

But through him, I slowly began to see

how horribly you were treating me.

He’s taught me how to laugh and smile and feel

with a sense of confidence that is real.

And he’s shown me what it’s like to be with someone

who gives you love when you think you’re worth none.

I never thought I’d be whole again,

but he’s shown the difference between now and then.

Now, I believe I’m strong, and I have worth.

Not only am I special, but the salt of this earth.

I am not defined by you or what you did to me,

but by my beauty, grace, and dignity.

To journey from hurt to healing is no easy feat,

but it is so worth the wait once it’s complete.
