When in her eyes and in her fractured voice,
The ache hurts even I, who knows no pain,
The tears in scarlet eyes, they have no choice
But now to fall and mar her face again.

Then break my heart, for her's is ever torn,
And nothing I can say will make her whole.
The griefs of someone else my heart adorn,
Thus, troubled is my mind and now my soul.

So her my weary arms encircle now,
As I fight worries as a knight of old.
A task impossible, I know not how
To kill the pain that now has taken hold.

Yet never will I end this valiant fight
'Til ever vanquished is her endless night.
