Hurting Girl

There once was a girl

Who tried to fit in

But no matter how hard she tried

she was always denied.

By day, she was a happy, funny

Obnoxious, uplifting girl

But by night, she became something else

she would stay up all night

she wondered about many things

She wondered about her past mistakes

She wondered if anyone could love her for her

She thought about the things that made her attractive

She thought about the things that made her unattractive

She found there are more negative than positive

She thought about words

The words she regretted saying

And the words she regretted not saying

The more she thought, the more she became lonely

she would stare at the moon

heart aching for a love she could never have

by day, she was a normal girl

by night, she was a hurting girl
