A Hurting Heart

Deep in my heart I always knew the truth concerning you.

That you did not care about us more than the dirt on your shoes.

Yet out of longing and fear, I pushed it away, and tried to believe in you anyway.

Time and again you broke my childish trust, so much so that my heart ached from trying.

I try to redirect your thoughtless blows, but some of them still hit and leave me crying.

I have tried to forget you and push you away, yet I know that I cannot live this heartless way.

On the happiest days I still have this spot, that’s hollow and hurts to the touch.

Whenever I look at it I can’t help but feeling sad, and like an infected wound, it looks pretty bad.

Sitting in the corner reminding me of what I’ve never had

The one thing I have always wished for, and it’s love from my dad.
