Hush

I hear the voices

But only sometimes

I hear them as whispers

As my sisters argue downstairs

As tears stream down my cheeks

As I sit alone in my room

I hear them whispering

They tell me to leave

To leave this place

Not to go anywhere in particular

Just to leave

They tell me not to think of anyone

Not to think about how to survive

Just leave

Don't look back and keep moving

Then I hear the voices that scream

The voices that tell me to stay

But  only make me want to run further away

I hear them when I'm happy

When I sit at the dinner table with my family

When I see my friends

Am I the only one who hears these voices?

Am I crazy?

Or am I the only one listening?
