Hybrid

I am as a hybrid,

A mixture of two cultures merged by fate.

I live and breath American,

Yet I look and am Mexican.

I am not from here,

Nor from there.

Yet I understand both cultures.

I can be whomever I want to be,

Just as long as I

Do not lose my identity.

My parents do not understand,

Where I stand between their countries.

I am not from here nor there,

I just am Mexican-American.
