Hypnos

Dim, blurred, hazy sounds barely reach my ears

The surrounding world fades away

I am a foot underwater; I’m suspended just above the atmosphere

A thin shroud of dreams begins to confuse my reality

I am here, yet I am nowhere

My eyes snap open and the blathering world returns in a rush

The abrupt re-entry into existence turns my blood to ice

I meet the exasperated look of my teacher

I was sleeping in class.
