I

I am from an archipelago consisting of 7, 107 islands, close to the equator on the pacific ring of fire. I’m from a place where typhoons and earthquakes compete, A land called pearl of the orient seas. Located at 40 23’-210 H latitude and at 1160-1270 S longitude, from a pilot’s point of view. I am from a corner between a couch and a coffee chair, where wooden pegs, toy soldiers, and a bear resides. Whose house were made of encyclopedias, and my favorite I wonder why’s. From there, I read fairy tales made by Grimm’s, and of shooting stars, asteroids, and the galaxy. I’m from a group who stays late at night, playing children’s game of hide and seek, who’s winning prize are bruises and bleeding knees. I’m from folks that adores root crops and fruit bearing trees. From Mangoes, Coconuts, and Tamarinds, to Ube (violets), Taros, and Cassavas, which taste and smell dwells in me. I’m from a sleeping mountain named Isarog. Emitting whiffs of sulfur from hidden hot springs and water falls. I’m from the seas with the smell of blended sand and salt, along with the taste of grilled squid, clams, and fish. Marinated with soy sauce and a sour lemon juice. I'm from a lady whose Spanish name means heart, with a maiden name that sounds like cat and bang combined. From my father who sailed the western seas, entailed with sharks, whales, and flying fish. From the white hairs my grandmother tried to dye, to her gastronomical dishes, my brother loves to eat. I am from here, where people embrace melting pot of diversity. I tried to reminisce things from the past. From my smiling friends, and that beautiful place. Alas! How can I forget, the land where beaming hearts exist. From here, I tried to learn, things about people and points of view. From theories of Erikson, Freud, and Piaget, and all the disciples of a science called Psychology.
