I Am...

A whitewashed shell on a deserted beach,

Cracked and trampled into the blistering sand,

Hoping to be healed and waiting for someone to reach,

Down to my broken body and take my hand.

A field of dying grass in the sickly heat,

Stands stiffly against the calm wind.

My buds and flowers, into the ground they retreat,

Waiting for water to come seep in.

A butterfly with beautiful wings in mid-flight.

All a sudden, I am sliced in two,

Did not see it coming, could not even fight,

The knife that killed me was held by you.

I am the last love letter sent,

A final chance to say goodbye,

Fading tendrils of a scent,

And the final tear you cry.
