I Am
When I was six
I was afraid of backhanded hits
And words that cut like knives
I was terrified
When I was nine
I was alone most of the time
I wanted a friend
But I went on solo
When I was twelve
I wanted to start fresh
I made a friend
The best one I have ever had
When I was fourteen
I couldn't look in the mirror
I was depressed, sad, lost
And no one could hear my cries for help
Later that year
I was a target
Sexually assaulted
Still no one would here until months later
The batle was fought hard
But in the end even though we won
It felt like we lost
I struggled with the fear
And the pain
Wanting it all to go away
I tried and tried
Nothing seemed to work
I tried to end it all
But that didn't work
When I was fifteen
I started again
I devoted myself to music
And made new friends
All seemed alright
Until a year later
I had sunk low again
The flash backs were hard
and I was feeling week
Then a year later
A "friend" put me and another in harms way
I opened myself up to them
This had been a mistake
As not too long later,
My words were tken and used against me
I wasn't okay
I wanted to die
But it was in the moment
I picked myself up
Brushed myself off
and from then on I knew
I Am Strong
