I am...

Who am I?...

I am one who blends in with the background

Screaming

But rarely heard

Because no one seems to hear my words

It's not that I'm ignored

That I'm kicked to the curb

It's just that I scream with my mouth closed

Kind of weird I suppose

I see myself as a spectator

Viewing the world from afar

I don't yearn for the spotlight

Just a way of life not filled with strife

My words don't always have to be heard

Sometimes it's more important to listen

For if someone is in need

And I can't hear their plee

Then what help am I?

I use my ear to listen to the world

And my heart to listen to my screams within

Because they are reflection of where my mind has been

I am one whose heart is a guide

And ears a tool

Because the things I hear

Can affect the future that is ever near

So who am I?

I am a listener

Who likes keeping things within

Because my heart reflects where I have been...

And what the future beholds.
