I Am

I am, God, I am
I admit that I am
I am Sodom
I am Gomorrah
I am the serpent in the Garden of Eden
I am Adam
I am Eve
I am these
But I'm not proud to be

I am the Canaanite
I am the Pharaoh that enslaved the Israelites
I am the giant from the Philistines
I am King David's adultery
I am King Solomon's heart,
Turned form you towards my wives' idols
I am like the devil himself
Because I am every evil in the Bible.

I am light
I am life
I am heir
I am no snares
I am no pain
I am no shame
I am not lame
I am no blame
I am set free
I am restored
I am complete
For I am Yours
I am beauty
I am valuable
I am reborn
I am wonderful
I am made right
I am without bounds
Thanks to you, Christ
I am, I am
NOW!

I wrote this poem as a way to inspire other followers of Christ, as well as myself, to remember that because of Christ, they are no longer broken in God's sight. Jesus takes everyone and anyone and turns them into something beautiful because we are all broken and in need of Him. If you come to know Christ for who He truly is, if you trust in Him as your Savior and Lord to deliver from an eternity in hell, then you, too, will be able to stand up and say "I am... thanks to You, Christ!"
