I AM...

I am Ruthanne.
I am blonde, but this does not dictate my intelligence.
I am short, but I stand tall.
I am skinny, but I've struggled with my apperance.
I am white, but I'm not better than you. I am equal.

I am Ruthanne.
I am worthy. I am worthy of all that I have and all that I am.
I am brave. I stand tall in the face of opression, even if I stand alone.
I am beautiful. Despite, the scars on my skin that tell me otherwise.
I am strong. I roar with the mighty lion within.

I am Ruthanne.
I am a writer. I captivate my audience with my dreams, ideas, and words. Perfectly flowing onto paper.
I am a reader. I surround my myself with worlds all my own. Worlds that are unknown to those around me.
I am a feminist. I rise amongst the women before me.
I am a lover.

I am Ruthanne.
I am a teenager, but I am ready to set forth on my dreams.
I am a woman. I am your equal.
I am a daughter, of the hard-working and the hardly working.
I am a sister. A sister to all who pass my path.

I am Ruthanne.
I am from Michigan. A state whose branches are rooted in hate.
I am from a small town. Where racism, homophobia, and sexism are still alive and proud.
I am from love. A single mother breaking her back to make sure her childern are safe and protected.
I am from hatred. A past rooted in not good enough, never good enough.

I am Ruthanne, that's all that I will ever be.
I am nothing more.
I am nothing less.
I am a mixture of things that make me who I am.
I am me.
