I Am

I am a valiant wolf in a dangerous world

I wonder when I will eat my next meal

I hear my fellow companions howl to the moon

I see the northern lights illuminate the night sky

I want to live without the danger of being killed

I am a valiant wolf in a dangerous world

I pretend to feel full even though I am starving

I feel the crushing of the snow beneath my feet

I touch the frosty nose of my mate

I worry I might not live through the arctic chilled snowy night

I cry to the moon as I see my friends die

I am a valiant wolf in a dangerous world

I understand that life is not fair

I say that I can’t be beaten

I dream to become the dominant pack leader

I try to hide my feelings so I look tough to others

I hope to one day teach my own pups how to survive

I am a valiant wolf in a dangerous world
