I Am
I Am
I am taking an annual poll for school,
And what do I see?
A list of boxes that don’t accurately categorize me.
Am I African-American?
Well not completely.
Am I Caucasian?
You wouldn’t say so when you see me.
I guess I should just check Multi-racial,
But not everyone who is mixed is mixed just like me.
For I am Puerto Rican,
Panamanian,
Barbadian,
Greek,
Italian,
Lebanese,
Armenian,
African,
And Taino-Indian.
Which box do I check for that?
