I Am...

Am I who I think I am?

I should be dependant

I should be independent

I should be powerful

I should obey

I should believe in this

I should believe in that

I should become this

I should become that

I should wear this

I should wear that

I should follow this

I should follow that

Am I, who I think I am?

With society telling me who I should be,

I am listening; I think I know who I am.

Then again,

I am not listening; I don’t know who I am.

In the society where there are "rules" to who you and I are supposed to be, I’m not sure who I am.

I am a seventeen year old girl … still trying to figure out who I am.
