I Am?
I am, I am, I am.
What am I?
Can that be defined by my physical existence?
Or a compilation of descriptions appropriate to my being?
A passerby may notice, “she is smart, she is sweet.”
I have heard these things from mentors and friends.
Though others, I am sure, have thought “she is ignorant, she is arrogant.”
I have had all of the thoughts about myself,
at different times during my life; at different times during the day.
What has led me here?
I surely cannot explain that.
To be quite frank, I’m not really sure where I am.
Am I on the peak of something new?
Am I on the downfall of something old?
Have I been running in circles my entire life?
Probably.
But as it turns out, I like circles.
Because when all is said and done,
and I have tried to find myself,
and I have gotten lost again,
and everyone has failed me
and again I build from the bottom up,
the only thing I still know about myself
is that I never knew anything in the first place.
I am simply being.
