For I Am
they say that adaptation in its prime is simply
assimilation
or admiration .
but I see things as they are and not for how they will be
and what this is,
what they are-- is damnation.
I will not lose myself and become something that I am not
because my hair makes you
'uncomfortable'
and my smile makes you
'uncomfortable'
and my unwavering confidence
in all things that are me makes you
'uncomfortable'

no you will not
put me in this box

you cannot
no you will not
make feel less than I am
I will not adapt
I will not assimilate
but you can admire
who and what I am
as I am
for I am
