I am
I am merland, the opposite of the usual by the name you read you can see im more than new to you, A young black boy captured by society lynched by stereotypes and blinded by those who share the same skin type, Sitting there watching a brother kill a brother then sitting there hearing the tears of both their mothers, sitting there watching my people say black lives matter then watching them go show me why all lives matter, sitting there watching the beef of drake and meek drown out the death of my boy Anthony, I am an ear hearing the black boy cry white instead of wolf then watching the black boy say white with no remorse, I am hearing the “n” word said rapidly then seeing the white boy get jumped for just one repeat, Why do I hear so much love and see so much hate smell so many drugs and see less grades, these are the things that mold my shape, what fills my soul with great grief and less faith, but I stay grinning ear to ear with this crooked smile that will never disappear, I am hope and that’s all that has ever been needed here.
