I AM

I Am

By: Somer Jordan

I am orange

I am brown

I am born

I crawl

I waddle

I fall

I walk

I run

…Running

I prevail

I press on

I am miraculous

I came from dung

Strings, yarn, lights, bows as the curtains fall

Flowers; roses with thorns

Pens, paper, scripture, altar, tears, cuts, flashes of thunder…lightning

Here comes the rain

Intertwining with the bleedings onto beds of soil, sprouting victory

I am growth

I am Loved

It.Was.Only.I.AM.
