"I am"

I am the secrets of those silent nights; stumbling through the painful throes of reality, off the razor sharp edge of ecstasy, while slowly descending into the dark, horrid abyss of insanity.

I am those dark mysterious figures lurking in the far corners of your mind; weaving together your threads of fate, unthreading the common knowledge of good and evil that is obscured by the blinding light of truth.

You are embraced by the warm, soothing arms of your own imagination; of your own naivety because...

I am those famous words “Ignorance is bliss to the naïve” while “Knowledge is evil to the fool.”

I am that silence of a peaceful mind, a clear conscious, without even a whisper of a nightmare.

Disturbed from a slumber as calm as death, aimlessly floating in the comforting embodiment of semi-consciousness, oblivious to the quickening pace of time; if not the untapped wisdom that comes with age.

I am that insatiable thirst that suddenly bombards you in the mid of night, clawing at your throat with as much rage and ferocity as a blood thirsty animal.

I am those whispers behind closed doors late in the night and sometimes early in the morning but what you didn’t know was that the walls are my friends and they have ears.

I am those bitter, silent tears, shed into the fabric of your pillow; unacknowledged cries of pain and anguish carried on the cool breeze of a midsummer night, echo’s through the barren valley of unkept promises and broken dreams

Like the soft, beckoning scent of a sweet virginal rose, your sorrow drugs my senses.

Like a moth is to the mesmerizing haze of a porch light, it calls out to me.

Like a vampire bat to a fresh open wound, oozing the metallic taste of blood; alluring in all of its shades of color.

I am those dreams, wrapped in a blanket of your own cold sweat, unable to pry yourself free from the grimy claws of the nightmare that had been haunting you routinely.

Pale, shaking, afraid of your own shadow, but is it your shadow?

I am the realization, that everything that you thought I wouldn’t find out

I already knew.
