I Am

I am strong. I am empowered. I am the daughter of my father and my mother.

My sisters on the Earth are beaten, harassed, scarred. We are shushed so we scream louder. We are underestimated because of our beauty and soft skin. They are jealous because of our power and determination. Our ancestors fought as we fight today. We have fought and are still fighting against oppression and stereotypes. They cover our mouths and say “Just look pretty.” I say, with my sisters, no. we are the foundation of the Earth.

I am strong. I am empowered. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. My legacy is set before me. I am a woman- you can’t silence me.
