I am...

I'm from a small place in my heart where I questioned my own sanity, at war with my own body everyday, trying to scrub your heavy words off my skin, A place where they stripped me of my self worth, and drained me of my identity til there was nothing left of my personality at a young age, I am from the highest mountains of bitterness and the deepest oceans of stupidity a place where your future is like a dream common success-ions, from rooms where the walls talk, different men come into your room at night rape you, take your innocence and get to walk out, RIGHT?, I'm from a place where a woman or a little girl has no say so that's just how the streets go gotta earn your respect in this world don't nothing come free, My mama was about that life married to a kingpin, prostitution, making drops, getting beat to death almost everynight that's the life she chose did 12 to life for him she never broke, I'm from a place where a Man comes before your kids, if he wants it it's done, I respect my mama because she taught me in reverse you can hold your nigga down and he'll still hit you where it hurts that's how it works you give and they'll take I never forgot he dropped us off at the door first chance he got told me he'd be back I've been waiting ever since but I respect him to cuz he taught me if you put your trust in these niggas they'll fool you too, I'm from a place where god never faked it he never lied, he's been a lover a friend a father a mother my guide he taught me if you trust in him enough he'll provide, I'm from a place where Father's Day was a myth I never knew they existed never got to hear his voice feel his touch his kisses I'm just a young girl reminiscing I knew of my father without ever really knowing him, A place where freedom was just a thought free my daddy out that box, where the game tag your it became so familiar I could pass him today and he'd be unfamiliar, Saints (Santo) in the may ain't so innocent. Trying to get me to believe, praising me to that side, like I was a Christian. Yet he was the raisin in the sun (Son) I was missing like a thief in the night deteriorated from pain all was lost he found me picked me up and like that I became his diamond in the rough sticking better then a bad habit I am from a body where darker blood wouldn't make you any closer, where lighter blood is dominant because darker blood is choosing to be recessive, it's always been just-us that's why when push came to shove we've never been lucky ain't no rules to this game we call family see me, hear me, love me, you don't feel this phenomenal woman thats ME. I am from when MOSES led his people to freedom, I am the ram in the BUSH!, i am from a place where my BLACK is and WILL BE BEAUTIFUL!, I will BREAK this GENERATIONAL CURSE and DAMMIT I DESERVE TO BE HEARD I AM! a phenomenal women thats me
