I AM

Dearest loved one,

I love who I am.

I love how strong I've become.

I love the truth about myself.

No, I don't believe its vanity

I believe its confidence.

I love the way my history made me who I am today.

Although, many would believe I've gone through nothing,

But how do you explain my success?

Society tries to define who I am,

Categorizing me into places,

I don't belong.

I love who I am.

My color, my beauty

Don't define who I am.

I do.

My past made me stronger and wiser

Those who fought for me, I should be grateful for.

I am.

My people struggled through unexplainable things

Therefore, I love who I am.
