I AM
Dear Insecurities,
You've been with me these 20 years. You've tagged along on every new experience, every new school, every new city, every new person I meet, filling my head with doubts and worries.
You are always there reminding me that I am not enough. That I lack confidence. That I lack strength.
I have tried ignoring you, but you don't care. Always there in the back of my head whispering negativity, encouraging me to run away.
You think that you are all powerful, but you never were and never will be.
Look at me now: going out into the world, taking risks, sharing my art and creativity, testing my confidence. And somehow, despite you and your insistence that you're always right, I have gotten stronger through all these experiences.
How dare you try to put me down and weaken me? What gives you the right to talk to me like I am insignificant? I AM significant. I AM strong.
I know who I am, and I KNOW I am strong. I am determined, driven, and I know I will succeed, because I have set my mind to it.
I am beautiful just the way I am, and despite what you may say, I AM ENOUGH.
You have constantly compared me to others, but I choose to love myself and feel comfortable with who I am and who I am becoming.
I can pursue my dreams and be as ambitious as I choose and it doesn't matter what anybody thinks.
Who cares? Why do you care so much?
I am my own person and I have just as much of a right as anyone else to pursue my dreams with every fiber of my being!
So don't sit there telling me I can't or I'm not enough.
I AM.
Yours truly,
Julia
