I am From
Yo soy de la playa
From the blue sky
To the vibrant water
The sandy shore
To the shells on the floor
The sun kissed surfers riding the waves
To the seagulls soaring in the sky
Yo soy de la playa
Yo soy de la casa de mi Nana
The house of a million tales
A house with a joyous past
The birthdays, the baby showers, the carne asadas
All emotions have passed through that house
To a stranger it’s a just a lonely house on a hill
To me it’s my childhood, my memories good and bad
Yo soy de la casa de mi Nana
Yo soy de la música
It's in my nature
My favorite expressive form
The beautiful melodies of the cello
To the intense beat of of the drum
You can analyze it, you can dance to it
Yo soy de la música
Yo soy del patio de mi Abuelo
The sound of tropical animals
The smell of freshly made arepas
The hammock swings by the gentle breeze
The jokes exchanged at the domino table
My Abuelo’s toothless laugh
The sense of happiness
The making of memories
Yo soy del patio de mi Abuelo
