I am From..

I am from the vast landscapes

Of the Horn of Africa

I am from the bitter-sweet coconuts

That fall from the pine trees

I am from Somalia

The Country that breeds my heritage

I am from the lions cave

To the bears den

From everlasting wheat feilds

To the barron roads

I come from Somalia

The land of Waving Flags

I am from the brave soldiers

That hold true to their mothers wishes

Yet only to be starved and killed

I come from Somalia

The war that left us paralyzed

I come from an immigrant family

Growing up in the free world

I am from the American dream

to achieve success and prosperity through hard work,

determination, and passion.

I come from Somalia

This poem is about:
Me
My family

My country
