I am
I am
I am from a small neighbor,
From living 10 houses away from both of my best friends.
I am from a hard-working family,
Where we earn what we eat.
I am from a divided family,
Where my grandparents don’t talk to us.
I am from a home,
That only sees what it wants too.
I’m from hand-me downs,
From where second-best is always better.
I am from “know it all’s” and you always think you’re right.
From stopping being a smart ass and you’re not as smart as you think.
I’m from “why can’t you be like your brother,”
Being weak, too skinny, not athletic enough.
I am from a strong relationship with school,
To finally get out of my house and live my life.
I am from laughing to hide the pain,
To never show weaknesses
I am from those moments were looking at the stars,
To see where the world could take me one day.
I am from new beginnings,
To seeing the best in people.
