I am from
I am from a diverse suburban neighborhood 30 minutes away from New York City
I am from an area filled with a numerous amount of deer’s
I am from where the trees whistle and they are so pretty
I am from where calmness is music to my ears
I am from where plantains are common thanks to being Haitian
I am from where every dish includes rice and beans
I am from a household where eating the same food every week leads to frustration
I am from where Goya is added in every dish by any means
I am from where what’s up means “Sak Pase”
I am from where I’m told “Ya ears are hard”
I am from where my mom confronts me and says “Don’t worry everything will be ok”
I am from where they yell at me “Go outside and don’t be alard”
I am from being surrounded by plenty cousins
I am from where diversity was never an issue
I am from where friends are around by the dozens
I am from where family got your back like a tissue
